History

Welcome to the webpage of one of the founding departments under the University of Cape Coast (UCC) School of Sustainable Engineering (SSE), the department of Computer and Systems Engineering (CSE). The department, established in 2024 academic year is to first, run an undergraduate programme in BSc Computer Engineering; other associated undergraduate programmes and postgraduate programmes will follow suit. The CSE will provide a strong emphasis on the design and fusion of hardware and software elements in both the classical and quantum communities.

 

The programme is positioned to align with the mission of UCC, incorporating all the elements of the 21st century skills. The training and research to be inculcated in our students will help advance UCC’s corporate social responsibility of serving the technological interest of the world. This new programme will significantly contribute technical content in UCC’s concurrent model to leverage training and to consolidate further the original mandate of the University while providing training in other professional disciplines.

 

The students will be groomed to graduate with a combination of the technical expertise, entrepreneurship and business management skills to effectively lead the industries.

Mission

Our Mission is to:

  • cultivate high quality manpower and critical knowledge for Sustainable Computer Engineering sectors globally through creativity, innovation, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, strategic collaborations and partnerships
  • establish a conducive environment for lecturers to engage students in research to enhance the continuity of education and to embrace new computer engineering based technologies
  • nurture ethically, morally-motivated and skilled Computer Engineers who will exhibit all the elements of the 21st Century Skills of University graduates by involving them in industrial and community-based services
  • inculcate in our students the ability to work within or without teams and
  • partner industry, government, community stakeholders, and other academic institutions so as to contribute to the socio-economic development of the global community.
